Representation of Ambiguities and their Resolution in Context
The project takes ambiguities as first class citizans. Its aim is to explain why ambiguities do not multiply out during the interpretation process but rather constrain and eliminate each other. The project will investigate lexical, morphological, syntactical and semantic ambiguities. It will develop representational devices that allow for their incremental specification in contexts that may themselves be underspecified. And it will formulate the principles and their interactions that govern this specification process during interpretation.
